@ Your Library: Up your reading game with these services
Attention Beaufort County bibliophiles! If you love books as much as we do, we hope you’ll explore these library services that are focused on books. To take advantage of most of them, you won’t even need to leave your house.
The Beaufort County Library System has a new book-alert newsletter service, where you can sign up to receive emails about new books in your favorite genres. Newsletters are delivered to your inbox and will provide a summary of the book and — the best part — a link directly to our online catalog so you can easily borrow the book from the library.
Choose to receive all of the newsletters or cherry-pick the categories you love to read most such as Armchair Travel, Mystery, Audiobooks, Nature and Science, Biography and Memoir, New York Times Fiction and Nonfiction Bestsellers, Business and Personal Finance, Christian Fiction, Picture Books, Fantasy, Popular Culture, Fiction A to Z, Romance, Historical Fiction, Science Fiction, History and Current Events, Spirituality and Religion, Home-Garden-DIY, Teen Scene, Horror, Thrillers and Suspense, Kids’ Books, and Tween Reads.
Newsletters for the New York Times Bestseller list distribute weekly, whereas others come every few weeks as books are published. Subscribe today at www.beaufortcountylibrary.org/new-books.
Bibliophiles can supplement their time not reading by listening to “The Well-Read Podcast,” a podcast created and hosted by two of our book-savvy Beaufort County librarians. Listen in as Halle and Ann discuss books and other reading-related fun. This podcast has a dedicated listenership, as is evidenced by the more than 150,000 downloads since its launch. To listen to episodes, visit the library’s website or download the podcast from your favorite podcast app.
Our library branches host all sorts of book clubs where attendees discuss books, meet fellow readers, and just have an all-around good time. Inquire at your library branch for the most current schedules.
If you’re a Google Chrome user, check out the browser’s free “Library Extension” tool. While searching for books on Amazon.com, Goodreads.com, Audible.com, and BN.com, the Library Extension tool will display when the book that you are searching for is owned by the Beaufort County Library. Users can place a hold by following the link provided. If you regularly purchase books, just think of all the money you could save.
Beaufort County Library cards are free to Beaufort County residents and property owners. Visit the library’s website at www.beaufortcountylibrary.org.
