PR firm honored for work on Boundary Street project
Williams Group PR, a local public relations and marketing firm, was recognized last week for its ongoing campaign to share information about the $33 million Boundary Street improvement project in Beaufort.
The Public Relations Society of America’s South Carolina chapter awarded its Mercury Award of Merit for community relations to Williams Group PR during its annual honors celebration May 4in Columbia.
“Helping keep this project front and center with the community is an important challenge,” the firm’s John Williams said. “To be more than halfway through a $32 million project and to be on budget and on schedule, despite Hurricane Matthew, is amazing. We are proud to help share the stories about the Boundary Street update.
“From the beginning, our goal has been to make it as tough as possible for people to say they didn’t know Beaufort’s Boundary Street was under improvement. The entire project team tries to share as much information in as many ways possible, whether that’s about lane closures or new traffic signals. We want people to know.”
The Boundary Street project includes relocating overhead power and communications cables to underground ducts, adding a raised landscaped median and upgrading intersections to improve traffic flow and safety.
“John’s group has been an important part of our overall effort to keep people informed about Boundary Street. We are proud for his team’s recognition with this award,” Beaufort City Manager Bill Prokop said.
