Library seeks teachers for Spanish-themed classes

As Friends of the Beaufort Library prepares for a trip to Spain, the group plans to host presentations and programs that explore the country’s history, authors, culture and politics.

Anyone who is interested in teaching a class on the following topics is encouraged to contact Friends of Beaufort Library: conversational Spanish, history of Spain, history of the Spanish settlement at Santa Elena, review of Spanish authors and books, current culture and politics of Spain.

The trip will take place April 14-22, 2018, with stops in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Valencia, Granada and Cordoba.

The Friends of the Beaufort Library, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and Santa Elena Foundation will explore Beaufort’s Spanish roots based on the 1566 settlement by Pedro Menendez de Aviles on Parris Island.

The group will visit all the major attractions in southern Spain and meet with a count who is related to Menendez de Aviles.
