The Beaufort Ospreys will try to take a step forward in their new era of local American Legion baseball as they take on Horry County in the second round of the Lower State playoffs.

After wrapping up regular-season play with a 10-2 record, Beaufort advanced last week without playing a game because of a forfeit by Lexington.

The Ospreys will host Horry County at 7 p.m. today and Thursday at Beaufort High. The games will be open to the public.

The format is a best-of-five series with Games 3 and 4 at Horry County on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon respectively. The game times have not been set.

If the series moves to Game 5, Beaufort, which earned the higher seed, will play host Sunday.

The winner advances to the state playoffs next week in Sumter.
